The first Saville base in the north east opened in Middlesbrough in 1979 – one of the first centres in the company’s network. With the growth of the conference business in the region during the 1990s, the operation outgrew premises in Boldon and moved into its present home in 2005.

In addition to servicing key venues in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and Middlesbrough, the north east team lists some major names among its clients. Regional conference manager Sara McKenzie has extensive international experience, leading Saville crews on key client events abroad, including conferences in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Barbados and USA.

Debenhams Christmas Presentations
For the fourth year running, Saville staged presentations by the leading fragrance suppliers to introduce their latest products to the Debenhams consultants, in preparation for launch at Christmas. Conceived and managed with Avenue Events, the event took place at Paramount Hinckley Island Hotel at Leicester, where the audience was engaged by using Saville eValu8 voting handsets.

Newcastle Airport 75th Anniversary Dinner
Saville supplied staging, lighting and AV facilities for Newcastle Airport’s 75th birthday celebrations at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton. Among the guests were local sporting celebrities including Alan Shearer and Niall Quinn plus leading figures from the world of aviation. The entertainment climaxed with surprise guest appearance by South Shields–born singing star Joe McElderry, winner of ITV’s X-Factor.

Housing Goes Dancing
Saville provided the AV facilities for a unique charity event staged by the Chartered Institute of Housing North East at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham, involving two stars from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Featuring a spectacular display by Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, ‘Housing Goes Dancing’ was compered by BBC TV presenter Jeff Brown and raised over £2000 for three north east cancer charities. The AV facilities included projectors, screens and sound system plus a large truss frame lighting rig, complete with obligatory Mirror Ball. (no ‘Strictly’ style event should be without one!)
