Strategic video communication solutions for the NHS
The extensive experience and resources developed by the Saville videoconferencing division includes key contracts and innovative projects with hospitals and other public sector organisations across the UK. The company has recently carried out a series of installation and technical support contracts with three NHS trusts in the north east.
At Durham & Darlington, we were engaged to provide consultation on the trust’s communication requirements and produced a 30-page strategic document outlining the benefits of IP-based videoconferencing solutions. The document provided detailed information about recommended infrastructure and provided a number of room-based solutions to cover a wide range of uses.
The document was used by the trust to formulate a business plan to secure funds to implement the recommendations. Following a strict procurement exercise, Saville was appointed to deploy and implement the solution, comprising a number of meeting rooms and two main boardrooms.
After the installation, we put in place a programme of extended support to ensure that users maximise the benefits of the technology.
Moving forward, the Saville team is working closely with the trust to trial and implement a firewall traversal solution to enable extended access for mobile & remote colleagues and external organisations.
Recommendations from Durham & Darlington led to Saville undertaking a similar consultation exercise for Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust, to provide advice on the potential benefits of videoconferencing. The resulting document enabled the trust to formulate a successful business plan and secure the funding they required.
A formal tendering exercise resulted in Saville’s appointment to deploy and implement similar integrated solutions in meeting rooms and training boardrooms. We subsequently provided extended support to maximise the benefits of the solutions.
Since the initial installation, our VC team has been tasked with expanding the capabilities of the system to allow inter-trust communications, adding firewall traversal capabilities to enable calls between the trust and external agencies and organisations.
We also integrated videoconferencing solutions into the Education Centre at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary, to allow telemedicine training into lecture theatres and training rooms, plus central recording and streaming capabilities across the trust’s video estate. We are also working with the trust to develop and implement user adoption programs and training.
A purchasing procurement exercise by South Tees NHS Trust resulted in Saville being appointed
to deploy and implement videoconferencing infrastructure solutions for a series of MDT rooms.
