New SRS for Mid Yorks NHS Trust

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has recently taken delivery of two new collaborative interactive systems at Emergency Departments (ED) at hospitals in Wakefield and Dewsbury. The IT and Emergency Department teams had been looking for a new technology solution to help raise collaboration and knowledge sharing across the two sites.

After an initial consultation and subsequent live demo at our Skype for Business Centre in York we were tasked with supplying an effective and cost effective solution.

During the consultations the Communications and Collaboration team identified a key factor was the need for the system to be extremely user friendly and easy to use. The system also had to allow high quality video calling alongside interactive content collaboration and sharing.

The intuitive solution is based around two SMART Room System installations at the ED Seminar Room at Pinderfields hospital in Wakefield and the ED Resource Room at Dewsbury hospital. Each features a single 70” inch interactive touchscreen, HD video camera, microphone and speakers and a control unit. Seamless integration with the Trust’s existing Skype for Business infrastructure means users can easily arrange meetings and send invites, all from within Outlook.

David Enzor, CSS IT project manager at the Trust explained “The Trust have worked closely with Saville Audio Visual in respect to the planning, installation, configuration and training for the systems. These will allow the emergency departments to utilise video links, presentations, meeting note capture and Skype messaging between sites, helping create more effective communications.”

When attendees enter the meeting room the system automatically powers up allowing them to instantly select a pre-arranged meeting and start working immediately. When they leave the system will automatically clear content from the screens and power down providing data security and low operating costs.
