Enhancing meetings & communications for IPEM

Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine

Meetings at the headquarters of an important healthcare organisation are taking a leap into the digital age thanks to technology supplied by Saville Audio Visual.

The Client

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is the professional organisation that represents around 4,000 physicists, engineers and technologists who play vital roles in delivering our healthcare. IPEM members help to ensure that patients are correctly diagnosed and safely treated for conditions such as cancer and stroke.

IPEM members across the healthcare sector maintain and manage medical equipment such as MRI and ultrasound scanners, X-ray machines, drug delivery systems and patient monitors.

Their research and innovation leads to new technologies and methods that improve on existing medical treatments. They provide new solutions that enable older people and patients with injuries or long-term conditions to complete everyday tasks.

The Brief

The rooms at IPEM headquarters are in constant demand for meetings, special interest groups and video meetings with associated international organisations. To upgrade its communication capabilities, the boardroom required a fully integrated AV and video conferencing facility, with a further interactive meeting capability in the building’s Ebor Room.

The Solution

The Saville team was commissioned to design and install new furniture and integrated presentation systems. In addition, videoconferencing environments are connected via the Saville Convene hosted videoconferencing service.

Facilities in the boardroom include an AMX control system with touch screen interface and a 80” LED display screen. The bespoke Saville boardroom table is accompanied by a matching lectern, credenza cabinets and fabric covered chairs. Finished in oak veneer with real wood edging, the 20-seat table features recessed, integrated mains & cable management plus retractable HydraPort connection interfaces.

The meeting room is equipped with a Polycom videoconferencing system, a bespoke Saville lectern and equipment rack cabinet.

The Outcome

The high quality, bespoke furniture and intuitive technology installed is designed to complement the prestigious surroundings with true state-of-the-art communications.

Providing virtual meeting rooms, the Saville Convene service allows the organisation to communicate face-to-face with colleagues, suppliers, clients and partners wherever they are located and whatever videoconferencing technology they are using.

All IPEM staff can now carry VC software on their laptop, tablet or smartphone, allowing them to ‘take the meeting room with them’. They can even invite external organisations who don’t have VC to participate, by using a guest invite app.

We are delighted with our new furniture and technology. The new solution allows us to collaborate easily between members and customers regardless of location. It will also help members to spend less time travelling to meetings and as a consequence also help us make savings in our travel budget.
